The BCS Sri Lanka section (BCSSL) was established in 1996. The section has over 1000 corporate members (MBCS) and about 3000 student members. Around 150 members are Chartered Information Technology Practitioners (CITP)s. BCSSL counts more than 10 Fellow Members (FBCS) amongst its membership. The Parent body, the BCS is the industry body for IT professionals, and a Chartered Engineering Institution for Information Technology (IT). With members in over 100 countries around the world, the BCS is the leading professional and learned Society in the field of computers and information systems.

Opening of the BCS Regional Office

The formal opening of the BCS offices at the new premises at 3, Maitland Crescent, Colombo 7 took place on the 13th of November 2006.

The office was opened by the President of the BCS Mr. Charles Hughes in the presence of the High Commissioner for Britain in Sri Lanka Mr. Dominick Chillcot and a representative gathering which included the Director of the British Council in Sri Lanka Heads and members of the educational fraternity ad the BCS Sri Lanka Section Officers

BCS Graduation Ceremony 2006

5th Graduation Ceremony of the BCS in Sri Lanka was held on 11th November2006 at he BMICH. Mr. Charles Hughes President of the BCS 2005/06 was the chief guest. Over four hundred diplomates and graduands were awarded their certificates at the ceremony

11th Annual General Meeting of the BCSSL Section

The 11th Annual General Meeting of the British Computer Society Sri Lanka Section was held on 25 May commencing at 6.30 pm at the "On Golden Pond" of the Taj Samudra Hotel. Around ninety members of the society attended the AGM and the dinner which followed. BCSSL section committee members and section officers for 2006/7 were elected at the AGM.
